How a seamless carousel works
A carousel shows one slide at a time, side by side. If you cut one wide image into equal 4:5 pieces, each swipe reveals the next piece and the picture continues across the edge. The total shape is the number of slides × 4 wide by 5 tall: a 3-slide carousel is 12:5 (2.4:1), a 5-slide one is 4:1.
- Phone panoramas are often 4:1 or wider. Five 4:5 slides keep most of the photo.
- Designs that cross the edges (a line, an arrow, text) invite the swipe, so plan your design on a canvas that is exactly slides × 1080 by 1350 px.
- Profile mosaics are a different thing: one image spread across several separate posts. Use the Instagram grid maker for that.
Questions
How do I make a seamless Instagram carousel?
Choose a wide photo or panorama, pick the number of slides (2–10), keep the 4:5 tile shape, move the crop, and download the ZIP. Upload all slides in one post, in number order, and they join up as people swipe.
What size are seamless carousel slides?
Each slide is 1080 × 1350 px at 4:5, so a 3-slide panorama is 3240 × 1350 px in total. You can also use 1:1 (1080 × 1080) slides.
How many slides can an Instagram carousel have?
Instagram allows up to 20 photos in a carousel. Panoramas rarely need more than 10 slides; past that the strip gets very thin.
Why do I see a thin gap or a misaligned edge between slides?
The pieces themselves join exactly. What you may notice is that Instagram shows slides with a small gap while swiping, and all slides in a carousel take the shape of the first slide, so keep every slide the same shape.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. The image is split in your browser and the ZIP is built on your device.
